Senior Stress Engineer - Composite Structures

We are looking for an experienced stress engineer who will lead the analysis of the composite airframe for the S-1

What You’ll Do

  • Generate and extract flight and ground loads for the aircraft structures, including edge cases such as crash loads and bird strike.
     

  • Set up and execute Finite Element Method (FEM) models to carry out static and fatigue stress analysis.

  • Derive material and component allowable properties to size the primary and secondary composite structure.

  • Support selection of materials, fasteners / joining methods and manufacturing processes.

Who You Are

  • Degree in Mechanical/ Aerospace Engineering or other relevant field.
     

  • Significant experience in carrying out stress analysis using hand calculations and FEM to size composite structures.

  • Extensive knowledge of composite material properties and failure modes.
     

  • Extensive knowledge of critical load cases, typical load paths and certification requirements for aircraft structures.

  • Proficient in CAD (preferably CATIA/3DExperience) including sketching, surfacing, 2D drawing and 3D modelling with appropriate GD&T.
